The Aston Martin Formula One team have agreed a partnership with US-based cloud computing company CoreWeave.

Contract :

  • CoreWeave becomes Aston Martin’s official AI cloud computing partner
  • Team’s new wind tunnel will be renamed the CoreWeave Wind Tunnel
  • Company will help Aston Martin relocate its on-premises computing infrastructure to a new, large-scale cloud computing environment

Context:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a fast-emerging sponsorship category in Formula One. Indeed, this is not even the first AI-focused deal signed by Aston Martin this year. The team already has an ‘official AI compute platform partner’ thanks to a multi-year deal with technology group Arm.

It’s interesting that CoreWeave chose to brand Aston Martin’s new wind tunnel, which became operational in March this year. This move isn’t likely to have broad marketing appeal, but it does mean CoreWeave can associate itself with cutting-edge technology, complementing wider exposure through branding on the team’s car.

Comment:

“We’re thrilled to welcome CoreWeave to the team,” said Lawrence Stroll, executive chairman of Aston Martin.

“In the fast-paced world of Formula One, AI cloud computing infrastructure is a decisive edge, and CoreWeave’s cutting-edge platform, purpose-built for accelerated computing, will be instrumental to unlock new levels of performance.

“United by a fierce ambition to win, we’re excited to harness the power of AI cloud computing together, transforming drive and passion into on-track results.”

Coming next:

CoreWeave branding will appear on the Aston Martin car for the first time at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, taking place from 23rd to 25th May.
