A picturesque fishing village in the South West has earned a spot among the nation’s top seaside destinations.
Located in the west of Cornwall, approximately three miles from Penzance, lies the historic fishing village of Mousehole.
This charming village has been featured in Conde Nast Traveller’s 2025 list of the best seaside places in England, with the guide describing it as “one of the county’s most picturesque fishing villages” and an ideal spot to “escape the hustle and bustle of city life”.
Mousehole boasts a stunning harbour and sandy beach, as well as a variety of galleries, gift shops, and places to eat.
The village has managed to retain much of its unique and historic character over the years, with its streets lined with traditional buildings, some of which date back to the 13th century.
For those who enjoy walking, the Mousehole to Lamorna coastal walk offers breathtaking views of the coastline. However, be prepared for some scrambling over large granite boulders along the way, reports Cornwall Live.
According to Visit Cornwall, “Mousehole is considered one of Cornwall’s prettiest fishing villages, with two small sandy beaches inside its harbour quays, only accessible at low tide, and a long pebble beach running east toward Penlee Point.”

Keen swimmers will appreciate the Mousehole Rock Pool, a natural tidal pool that’s perfect for a wild sea swim and spotting seals in the bay.
The village boasts an array of car parks in and around the harbour, as well as free parking on the road leading into the village, and a reliable bus service from nearby Penzance.
Mousehole has garnered numerous glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, with tourists unanimous in their praise for the village’s beauty and array of activities.
