A missing schoolgirl who could have travelled nearly 300-miles to Birmingham has been found.

Ava Stewart, 13, from Kilmarnock, in Scotland, was last seen boarding a train at Glasgow Central Station, at around 1.35pm on Friday, June 6.

It prompted a social media campaign to find her along with a police appeal.

But police said this afternoon, Sunday, June 7, that she had been found safe and well.

In an update, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Ava Stewart, 13, who had been missing from Kilmarnock, has been traced.

“Thank you very much for sharing our appeal.”
