Tributes have been paid to a man after his ‘utterly tragic’ death following a fall from The Cube in Birmingham.
Emergency services rushed to the 24-storey structure off Wharfside Street in the city centre, at around 6.30pm yesterday, Saturday, June 7.
The man died at the scene. Residents were evacuated and restaurants and businesses were temporarily closed while West Midlands Police probed the incident.

Police said the case would be passed to a Birmingham coroner to examine the non-suspicious death. The Cube confirmed all venues were open as normal today, Sunday, June 8.

A worker at a business at The Mailbox told BirminghamLive: “There were a lot of police here, along with ambulances and a fire truck.
“We’d heard he had fallen from a terrace, it’s so sad.”
A shocked resident said: “My heart goes out to the man’s family. It’s utterly tragic.”
One post on Facebook read: “May he rest in peace. Can’t imagine how his family must be feeling right now.”
In a statement, police said: “Our officers are currently in attendance at The Cube in Wharfside Street dealing with an incident.
“We were called shortly after 6.30pm (on Saturday) after reports of a man falling from one of the upper floors.
“Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The man’s family are aware and they are being supported by officers.
“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.”

The Cube said today: “We can confirm that all venues within The Cube are open and are operating as usual.
“We’d like to thank our residents, visitors, and partners for their patience and understanding whilst we dealt with yesterday’s incident. We look forward to welcoming you back.”
In a statement posted on Facebook last night, The Cube said: “(On Saturday), a serious incident occurred at The Cube Birmingham.
“Emergency services attended the scene and continue to carry out a full investigation.
“We are fully co-operating with the authorities and will continue to follow their guidance.
“We understand this may be distressing and our thoughts are with all those affected by today’s events.
“At this stage, we will not be providing further comment and we kindly ask for privacy and understanding as the investigation progresses.”
