A car ploughed into a bus stop before uncontrollably hitting a building in a horror collision in south Manchester on Monday night (June 9).

Police, paramedics and fire crews raced to the scene on Slade Lane in Longsight at around 8.30pm. The road was taped off with a huge cordon put in place.

Part of nearby Stockport Road was also blocked, with the police tape stretching over the Slade Lane Community Garden amid investigations.

Pictures from the scene showed a number of ambulance vehicles in attendance, along with incident response units, police vans and the fire service.

It was reported that a car had struck a bus stop before ploughing into a commercial building, thought to be a shop. Images taken of the aftermath appear to show the car in the centre of the large cordon.
