Say what you will, but Meghan Markle is the queen of high-low fashion. Over the weekend, Markle shared a video that captured she and her family enjoying Disneyland for Lilibet’s fourth birthday. As a shopping editor and flats lover, I couldn’t help but notice her footwear—she’s distinctively wearing Birdies The Starling, which she’s been seen wearing before.
Honestly, not a surprise she’d wear the Starling to Disneyland, as it makes for an excellent on-your-feet-all-day shoe. Technically a loafer, the Starling features seven (!!!) layers of cushioning, which protects your arches, heels, and balls of your feet as you race from California Adventure back to Splash Mountain in Disneyland proper. (As someone who lives an hour away from Disney and has been to the park many, many times, I can attest that it’s sooo important to go in a pair of trusty shoes!)
Plus, the shoes are no-slip, so even if you’re running after littles, you don’t have to worry about slipping on wet pavement because you’re wearing the wrong footwear. These come in over a dozen colors and patterns: I have a simple black pair, and love how they go with everything without me having to think about it, but you can choose from so many pretty patterns and fabrics (leather, velvet, woven, calf hair).
