Wrexham are interested in snapping up Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis as Phil Parkinson looks to boost his engine room.

Wrexham are being linked with players left, right and centre, but Phil Parkinson is yet to make a first summer signing.

Midfielders have been prominently linked with Wrexham, although we have mostly seen left-footed players touted for moves to the STōK Cae Ras.

Tom Cairney is weighing up a move to Wrexham and Lewis O’Brien is on Parkinson’s radar.

Wrexham’s rumoured interest in Charlie Savage only adds to the idea that Parkinson is focused on adding balance to his engine room with a left-footer.

A right-footed midfielder is becoming a key target, though, as Wrexham are eyeing Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis.

The Wrexham Insider understands Wrexham are interested in a move to bring Travis to North Wales.

Travis helped Ipswich Town win promotion to the Premier League in 2024, having joined Kieran McKenna’s side on loan.

The former Liverpool trainee is a battle-tested Championship midfielder and a brilliant leader in the middle of the park.

It’s easy to see why Parkinson wants to add Travis and his battling qualities at Wrexham, and The Lancashire Telegraph now back up Wrexham’s interest.

Intriguingly, it’s suggested that Rovers are yet to offer Travis a new contract despite Wrexham’s interest.

The 27-year-old is out of contract in 2026, meaning Rovers are in danger of seeing him leave for nothing in just 12 months.

Travis is thought to be one of Blackburn’s top earners and is ‘open’ to staying at Ewood Park on a new contract.

Right now, though, Rovers have not put an offer on the table – and that will only serve to encourage Wrexham over a summer move.

Watch out for Sheffield United

Wrexham are certainly the strongest suitor for Travis as things stand, but The Lancashire Telegraph highlight that Sheffield United were very interested last summer.

Chris Wilder’s side just missed out on promotion to the Premier League, losing to Sunderland in the Championship play-off final.

The Blades will look to mount another promotion push next season, but Wilder will be seeking new signings to aid his cause.

A battling midfielder such as Travis is sure to still be on his radar, and Wrexham may face competition from Sheffield United as a result.

Top-end Championship clubs will be watching Travis and his contract situation very closely, but Wrexham will have a genuine chance to win this race with an opportunity to play a key role in the rise under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds up for grabs.
