The Range is due to open its new store in Cookstown before the end of April, although a date has not yet been confirmed.

The new outlet from the British retail outlet will replace Cookstown’s Homebase premises, which closed officially last month,

This will mark the first The Range’s first store in Co Tyrone, and will be the 11th overall in Northern Ireland.

Whilst the Plymouth-based business has remained tight lipped about the new variety store and gardening centre, it has been advertising for staff since last month.

The retailer purchased around 70 Homebase outlets across the UK after the chain fell into administration back in November, and has since opened 30 converted superstores of its own.

The Range’s most recent NI store opened on April 4 at Balloo Retail Park in Bangor.

It’s understood all staff who worked at the Homebase store previously have kept their jobs.

In a post, the company wrote: “We’ve hit a HUGE milestone! We’ve now opened 30 brand-new The Range superstores in former Homebase units across the UK & Ireland, including Sligo, Drogheda, Winchester and Balloo Park (Bangor).”
