Russell Martin sees no reason to change captain Tavernier but could be in the market for a right backCody Drameh of Hull City

Rangers are reportedly one of NINE clubs chasing Hull City defender Cody Drameh.

Russell Martin was appointed last week and will ramp up his summer recruitment drive in the coming weeks with the squad returning for pre-season training on June 23.

And reports in England say Drameh is attracting interest which would see him provide captain James Tavernier with competition for the right back spot, who Martin is sticking by as captain.

The 23-year-old has struggled for regular football since joining from Leeds United almost 12 months ago, largely owing to Tigers club captain Lewie Coyle being the preferred choice at right-back.

And there are no shortage of clubs interested in the player. Former Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom wants to take him to Preston North End, while his former manager at Birmingham City, ex Rangers trialist John Eustace, is determined to lure him to Derby County.

The report states that “along with a host of other clubs, including Scottish giants Rangers, Liam Rosenior, now in charge at Strasbourg, remains a huge fan, having been the key driver in Drameh’s original move to the club.”

And they add “City are not thought to be actively trying to sell Drameh, though if they were approached with a seven-figure offer for a player under contract for two more years, plus the option of a further 12 months, then it’s believed they would consider selling. So far, none of the bids put on the table have met their valuation.”
