A former Edinburgh office near The Meadows is set to be turned into a soft play and shop.
A planning application has been submitted to Edinburgh Council which would see 34-36 Argyle Place transformed into a play space and retail destination called PlayWorks.
The centre would include climbing structures, tunnels, slides, balance beams and a ball pit with play zones and interactive walls.

A separate infant area with “soft mats and calming features” are also included in the plans as the applicant seeks to create a social space for parents to “relax, connect and build support networks.”
According to the applicant, Edinburgh Play Works Ltd, the unit was formerly an office and benefits from existing class four use with additional hot food consent.
The street is located just minutes from The Meadows and other cafe’s and shops in the Marchmont area.
A shop will also offer a range of pre-packaged snacks and beverages as well as children’s toys, clothing and accessories.
A design statement adds: “The applicant proposes to repurpose the unit for a new enterprise, PlayWorks, a community-focused play space and retail destination. PlayWorks will function as both a general retail outlet and a professional service venue.
“It is designed as an indoor play space where young children (infants to preschool age) and their caregivers can interact, explore, and connect. Adults are required to remain with their children at all times, promoting shared experiences and engagement.
