A man and woman suffered injuries after being hit by a car in Liverpool city centre. Emergency services were called to Old Haymarket at around 5pm on Tuesday, June 10.
The force confirmed to the ECHO a white Volkswagen Passat had been involved in the incident. A man and woman, both aged in their 70s, suffered injuries as a result.
The male pedestrian suffered a head and leg injury, while the female pedestrian suffered an arm and a leg injury. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries, a spokesperson said.
A passerby told the ECHO: “I was just walking past and I saw a woman lying on the floor covered in a blanket. There was a first responder paramedic and a couple of police vans.”
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and people were asked to find an alternative route.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We were called to reports of a collision involving a white Volkswagen Passat and two pedestrians. The driver of the car stopped at the scene.”
