Following successful events in New York, London, and Madrid last year, Paris will be this year’s only European location for the Pokémon Go Fest, a strategic choice for Niantic, captivated by the vibrant French capital and its highly active gaming community.

While Niantic has kept details of the Paris event under wraps, several enticing features have already been announced. These include real-world and mobile games that blend physical and digital exploration, arenas for challenging friends in spirited battles, merchandise booths to grab unique memorabilia, and photo ops with Pokémon mascots to capture the memories.

However, the highlight of the festival will be the debut of Volcanion, a mythical Pokémon that players will have the chance to encounter for the first time in Pokémon Go. This special appearance has been confirmed by Lena Cillis, Niantic’s Event Marketing Manager.

Connections and a United Community

Beyond the captures and battles, Pokémon Go Fest is primarily a social experience. Dan Hill, Niantic’s Senior Director of Marketing, emphasizes the importance of human interactions in the game. Every day, we hear stories about people who have overcome their fear of going outside thanks to Pokémon Go. Last year, seven couples even got engaged during the festival, and we expect even more in the city of love.

With tens of thousands of attendees expected, including 70% from outside France, the Paris event promises to be electrifying, filled with exchanges, discoveries, and a shared passion for the Pokémon universe.

Tickets for Pokémon Go Fest Paris 2024 went on sale Thursday, March 6 at 1 PM. Early bird tickets (purchased before April 2) are priced at 22 euros, while standard tickets (starting April 2) will be 27 euros. However, act fast, as demand is expected to be high. Last year’s Madrid edition attracted 27,000 trainers to the festival site and 192,000 throughout the city, generating 35 million euros in revenue.

Why Paris? Niantic’s choice of Paris as its sole European stop is no coincidence. The French capital is among the most active cities on Pokémon Go. In 2023, 192 million Pokémon were caught in Paris. Players walked 22 million kilometers through the streets of Paris. These statistics make Paris the second largest European city for the Pokémon Go community, just behind London.
