Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid shared “concern” for her co-star Richard Madeley minutes into Wednesday’s (June 11) show.
During today’s edition of the hit morning news programme, Susanna and Richard discussed the latest headlines from across the UK and around the world.
They spoke about the serious disorder in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, as well as the Chancellor Rachel Reeves‘ upcoming spending review.
Following Martin Lewis‘ warnings about winter fuel scams the previous day, the pair also walked viewers through steps to avoid falling victim.
However, Richard’s hoarse voice soon took centre stage, prompting Susanna to express her concern for her co-host’s well-being.

“I’m a bit concerned we’re going to lose you through the programme,” Susanna said, to which Richard gestured to his throat and replied: “What, this thing?”
He optimistically added: “I think it’ll get stronger through the programme. That’s my prediction.”
Later in the show, Richard revealed he had been given honey and water to soothe his throat, and reassured viewers that he would be back to full strength by the next day.
“If it’s annoying you, I’m really sorry. Tomorrow it’ll be better,” he said.
The show sparked a flurry of concerned comments on X (formerly Twitter), with many questioning the decision to let Richard host despite his vocal struggles.
“Why on earth have you let Richard take the chair today when he can hardly talk?” one viewer asked, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Another added: “Richard Madeley sounds like Daddy Pig this morning,” while a third said: “Richard’s ill, should have replaced him today.”
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Richard’s voice is so hoarse.”
The news comes after Richard’s revelation about suffering a double wrist fracture during a recent trip to France.
In other parts of today’s programme, Richard and Susanna chatted with the UK’s Eurovision hopefuls, Remember Monday, who discussed their experience in Basel, Switzerland, where they performed last month.
The hosts also interviewed Reform UK’s new chairman, David Bull, after he replaced Zia Yusuf, who quit the role last week following a clash with one of the party’s MPs.
