After a fortnight of pretty glorious sunshine, the UK is bracing for a return to grey skies and rainfall but there is still some good news to report.
It seems that it’s not all doom and gloom as this grim weather won’t last long.
The downside is that we might have to endure some thunder and hail first.
The Met Office’s forecast for the South West in the week ahead predicts more showers on Monday, April 14, and throughout the week with potential for thunder and hail.
But don’t despair because drier and sunnier periods are also on the cards further down the line.
Temperatures are set to hover around average, although it may feel cooler than recent days, reports DevonLive.
Cooler weather on the way
Today, Sunday, April 13, the Exeter-based forecaster predict a mainly dry day with a few possible showers. Following sunny spells in the morning we can expect cloudier skies by the afternoon.
It’ll feel noticeably cooler compared to recent days and will be quite breezy. The mercury is expected to hit a high of 14°C.
As for tonight, it’ll be mainly dry with clear spells in the evening and early overnight. However, there’s an increasing chance of showers later in the night, and it could turn rather chilly in rural areas.
The temperature is likely to dip to a low of 4°C.
Monday will start dry for some, but showers in the west will gradually move eastwards and develop more widely.
Some heavy showers are predicted, with hail and thunder possible, accompanied by brisk southerly winds.
Hope for drier and sunnier intervals
Despite this, temperatures are expected to reach a comfortable 15°C.
The forecast for Tuesday through to Thursday suggests that the weather will remain unpredictable, with potential showers or longer periods of rain. However, there will also likely be some drier and sunnier intervals.
Temperatures are expected to hover around average although it may feel cooler after getting used to the spring sunshine.
