Gyokeres threatens strike

Viktor Gyokeres has threatened to go on strike to force through a summer transfer away from Sporting CP, according to reports.

Gyokeres is said to have come to a gentleman’s agreement with Sporting chiefs last September, with club bigwigs reportedly claiming that he could leave this summer for a fee in the region of £60million, including bonuses

According to Portuguese paper Record, the Swede has been left frustrated by Sporting’s desire to now charge around £70m.

They add that Gyokeres has insisted that he will never play for Sporting again, such is his determination to leave this summer.

The former Coventry striker has reportedly told club chiefs that he would be willing to go on strike in order to get his move.

Manchester United are thought to be interested in signing the striker, who played under manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting.

While Arsenal had also been linked with the bagsman, but appear to favouring a move to RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Mbeumo latest

Manchester United remain interested in signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer.

United had submitted an initial bid to the Bees for the winger, but it was turned down with Brentford feeling that it fell short of their valuation.

The Athletic claim that no second bid has been launched yet, but talks are continuing this week in the hope of finding an agreement.

Thomas Frank’s likely arrival at Tottenham as their new manager could throw a spanner in the works.

Reports have suggested that Frank could try and hijack the deal in an attempt to bring Mbeumo to Spurs instead.

Outgoing suitors

So we know that United want to ship Rashford, Garnacho, Sancho and Antony out, but who wants to buy them?

Well, The Athletic report that Jadon Sancho is still admired by former club Borussia Dortmund – with whom he was loaned back to during the 2023/24 campaign.

While Real Betis would love to re-sign Antony after his loan to Spain this term, but seem unlikely to put up the funds required to sign him on a permanent deal.

There’s been rumours of interest from Barcelona in Marcus Rashford, but the Catalan club are understood to see Liverpool’s Luis Diaz as their priority target on the wing.

And Alejandro Garnacho has long been watched by Chelsea – evidenced by their interest last summer – but the Blues are yet to make any official bids.

United’s selling stance

Man Utd are ready to stay “resolute” when it comes to the valuations of players they expect to leave this summer.

The Red Devils are set to shift on a number of big name players with raising funds one objective for the board in the coming weeks and months.

According to Ben Jacobs, United are willing to sell Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony to bring in some cash.

But the Old Trafford top brass want to ensure they are getting the right fee for each player and won’t sell just for the sake of getting the stars off the books.

Manchester United are looking to cut ties with Jadon Sancho this summer.

This comes after Chelsea paid £5million to cancel their loan deal with United that included an obligation to buy Sancho.

According to Sky Sports, Borussia Dortmund are asking to be informed on the winger’s future.

The same report suggests that Dortmund are keen on re-signing the England international on a permanent deal.

New Tom Heaton Deal

Manchester United veteran Tom Heaton has verbally agreed a new one-year playing deal.

Heaton is set to stay at Old Trafford with fresh terms to be finalised within the coming days.

The goalkeeper was set to be out of contract at the end of June.

But the former England international is ready to sign a new contract at United, which will take him into his forties.
