They are the heart and soul of our communities, the places where we can freely express ourselves, laugh, cry, sing, and voice our opinions when it matters most.
There’s nothing that quite compares to a British pub. And the pubs in Bristol are undoubtedly some of the finest in the land.
They exude character, charm, vitality, and warmth – and the beer is pretty good too. Some pubs, undeniably, stand out from the rest. It could be the friendly bar staff, the iconic landlord, or the top-notch ale.
Or perhaps it’s the live entertainment that adds that extra sparkle to your evening.
We also have a soft spot for those less-than-perfect quirks, especially when the pub happens to be your local, a place where you’ve spent years creating memories that will last a lifetime.
But the cost of living crisis has hit the pub industry hard – and now we want to show our appreciation for the ones still putting up a fight and pulling out all the stops to remain a vital part of our communities.

Our panel of beer lovers will then decide which venues should form our prestigious top 50 pubs of the year guide before an overall winner is declared.
Each entry will be awarded a pub of the year sticker to display in their venue in recognition of their status. Not only that – but as many pubs as possible that feature in the guide will get a glowing write-up on BristolLive as a job well done.
