Man Utd are always on the lookout to add talent to their academy system and they are closing in on another transfer.Harley Emsden-James is joining the academy.
Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Harley Emsden-James from Southampton.
Emsden-James, 16, is highly regarded and will swap St. Mary’s Stadium for Old Trafford this summer.
The young defender has played for England at youth level and will join United’s academy. Southampton will receive compensation and Jason Wilcox has played an important role in the move.
Wilcox was recently appointed as director of football at United. He worked for Southampton for nine months before his arrival in Manchester and he is familiar with Emsden-James.
United are waiting on Premier League ratification for Emsden-James but no problems are expected.
Emsden-James is a natural centre-back and is set to play for the Under-18s, who will be managed by a new coach in 2025/2026 after the unexpected departure of Adam Lawrence.
United are always on the lookout for the best young talent to add to their academy. Brexit impacted which youngsters they can sign, which means recruiting players from within Britain has become common.
Emsden-James only celebrated his 16th birthday in March but has been tipped for a bright future.
