With this year’s spring delivering more sunny days than the entirety of last year, Edinburgh is perfectly primed for summer wine adventures.
The capital has embraced the rosé revolution with open arms, launching its first-ever Rosé Wine Trail alongside exceptional dining experiences that showcase the very best of summer drinking in the city and is the perfect excuse to explore different neighbourhoods.
Edinburgh’s First Rosé Wine Trail: A Pink Paradise
The much-anticipated Edinburgh Rosé Wine Trail has officially launched across the city, offering wine enthusiasts the chance to explore premium rosé selections while discovering some of Edinburgh’s finest establishments.
The trail features three distinguished venues from the Signature Group: McLarens on the Corner in Morningside, The Huxley on Rutland Street, and Copper Blossom on George Street.
Enjoy a small or large glass, a bottle or take a wine flight. The experience centres around a carefully curated flight featuring three exceptional wines: Mirabello Adria Vini Lombardia from Italy, Château Routas Côtes de Provence from France, and M by Minuty Côtes de Provence, also from France. For just £15, visitors can sample 125ml glasses of each wine, creating the perfect introduction to premium rosé varieties.
The trail operates on a passport system – simply collect your free passport from any participating venue, gather stamps at each stop, and you could win the ultimate prize: a dreamy getaway to Provence, the heartland of rosé production.
Beyond the wine flight, each venue offers an impressive selection including Della Vite Rosé Sparkling Valdobbiadene and the alcohol-free Della Vite Non-Alcoholic Sparkling from Italy.
The food offerings perfectly complement the wine experience, featuring baked camembert with focaccia croutons and crudités, garlic buttered flatbreads with pomegranate and baked beetroot hummus, charred tikka skewers, and haggis bon bons with blistered padrón peppers.
W Edinburgh: Elevated Summer Dining with Spectacular Views
For those seeking an elevated summer experience that captures the essence of Edinburgh’s beauty, W Edinburgh stands as the city’s premier destination.
Located on the 12th floor, W Deck offers unprecedented 360-degree views of Scotland’s capital, making it the perfect spot for both locals and visitors to celebrate summer in style.
The W Sunset Sessions, held every Friday from 7-10pm, provide the ideal backdrop for enjoying signature cocktails and chilled summer wines against Edinburgh’s stunning skyline. The venue’s philosophy of “Whatever, Whenever” ensures there’s something for every mood and weather condition.
For intimate occasions, W Edinburgh’s new glass pod dining experience offers stylish private dining with views over Calton Hill and historic George Street. August visitors have the added treat of nightly fireworks displays over the city, while the venue’s fire pits provide warmth when Edinburgh’s climate isn’t as balmy as those of the south of France.
The W Lounge: A Wine Lover’s Paradise
The 11th floor W Lounge houses an impressive collection of over 400 fine wines and champagnes, dramatically displayed on a dedicated wine wall surrounding a new tasting table.
Under the guidance of resident sommelier Sumith, with over 40 years of experience, guests can embark on the 45-minute New Horizons Wine & Cheese Flight experience, featuring three expertly paired wines and artisanal cheeses.
Executive Chef David Lilley has crafted a new Scottish-inspired menu available throughout the day, featuring snacks like spicy chorizo popcorn and Perello Gordal olives, small plates including charcoal baked beetroot with goat’s curd and ham hock sausage roll with cider apple ketchup, and larger plates dishes such as lamb rump with potato gnocchi.
The venue also houses SUSHISAMBA, serving an innovative fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine, alongside Joao’s Place, a secret apartment speakeasy on the 11th floor specialising in cocktails that celebrate Brazilian culture and the international music scene of 1980s Brazil.
