Rachel Capper has made a change of use application to County Hall to convert a vacant barn in Roud, a settlement south of Godshill.

Without the proposed ‘remedial works’, the barn will ‘over time be subject to abandon and ruin, which could become harmful to the natural beauty found at Roud’, a Design and Access Statement from Nova Architectural notes.

“The whole purpose for the proposal is for the client and their daughter to create a habitable and spacious living accommodation for themselves throughout the years to come.

“Although the barn is located outside of the defined settlement boundaries, this provides a unique living experience…through a quiet and quaint village located just outside of Godshill.

“Internally, the proposal envisages a large open plan living space to the main barns footprint, with the existing brick structures footprint becoming the kitchen. The lean to the southwestern side of the plot will become the bathroom and bedroom, and the attic will be converted to one bedroom.”

The council’s public consultation on application 25/00763/FUL closes on July 4 and a decision is due on July 31.
