Emergency services are on the scene following reports of a serious ‘police incident’ on the M67 this evening (June 12).
The motorway was forced to fully close shortly after 10.15pm, close to Denton Rock. According to Greater Manchester Police, the westbound carriageway has since reopened while the eastbound remains closed.
There is currently no information regarding when the road will reopen.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and make alternative travel arrangements where possible. The closure is in place between junction one with the M60, and junction three.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M67 in Greater Manchester is closed eastbound between J1 (M60) and J3 (Hyde) due to an ongoing police led incident.
“Traffic Officers are assisting with strategic closures on the approach with no times for the reopening of the road at this stage.”
Road users travelling eastbound are advised to follow the Solid Circle diversion symbol on road signs
- Exit the M67 eastbound at J1.
- At the end of the slip road turn right on to the A6017.
- At the junction with the A57 turn left.
- Remain on the A57 eastbound to the junction with the A627 Clark Way.
- Turn left and follow Clark Way to J3 of the M67. Bear left to re-join the M67 eastbound.
If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
