Birmingham has been issued with an 18-hour yellow weather warning for this weekend.
Forecasters at the Met Office issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms for the West Midlands on Saturday, June 14.
The alert, which also encompasses Manchester, the North East, Wales and parts of London, runs from midnight until 6pm.

The Met Office warned “heavy rain and thunderstorms may lead to some disruption.”

As part of the thunderstorm alert, Brummies should brace for the following on Saturday:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
Forecasters added that there may also be hail and gusty winds on Saturday in Birmingham.
However this will lead to the temperature and environment clearing up by Sunday, and a “fresher feeling.”
For Saturday to Monday, the Met Office said: “Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday with hail and gusty winds. These easing on Sunday to leave a largely dry day with bright spells on Monday. Feeling fresher.”
