An official approach was made by the Hoops and they’ve now had a response from the Danes over the Swedish wingerBenjamin Nygren of Sweden celebrates
Benjamin Nygren has been given the green light to start transfer talks with Celtic.
The Premiership champions are keen to sign the Swedish winger, who is high on Brendan Rodgers‘ transfer wish list this summer.
An official approach was made to Danish club Norsjaelland today, and Sky Sports now claim that the Hoops have been permission to start discussing terms with the 23-year-old.
If they can reach an agreement on length of contract and wages, then it will be up to the Parkhead outfit to agree a transfer fee with the Danes.
Nygren is currently on holiday following the recent end-of-season international break and Celtic chiefs will sit down with his representatives to thrash out a deal.
His contract with Nordsjaelland expires at the end of the year, and has a gentleman’s agreement in place with his club that means he won’t be offered a new contract.
Celtic likely won’t have to break the bank to persuade Nordsjaelland to let him leave ahead of schedule, which will at least see them bank a fee for the wide man they signed from Genk two years ago.
