Naturally, King Charles and Queen Camilla will hold court at Trooping the Colour, standing front and centre on the balcony to watch the Red Arrows flypast. Royal fans can also expect to see a host of senior royals, including Prince William, the Princess of Wales, and their three children. The young Waleses are often the stars of the show when it comes to the monarch’s birthday celebrations, from Prince Louis’ delightful antics to the calm presence of Princess Charlotte and the lessons in ruling for future king Prince George. No doubt, many will have an eye on what the next generation gets up to from the Mall.

If recent Troopings are anything to go by, Prince Edward will make an appearance, as will Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, both of whom have become mainstays in this new era of the parade. Last year, their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, joined her parents, though their son, James, the Earl of Wessex, was busy with his exams. Could we see a full family reunion for the Edinburghs on Saturday?
Princess Anne is not one to miss Trooping the Colour, nor is her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. The Princess Royal has been a rock for her brother while he continues his cancer treatment, standing proudly by his side through a number of important engagements. It is likely that King Charles, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne will also be joined by some more rarely seen senior royals. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, for example, could well be on the balcony come Saturday, as could the Duke of Kent, who has plenty to celebrate with his family after his granddaughter, Lady Marina Windsor, revealed that she was getting engaged earlier this month.
