Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed optimism in his regular Sunday post that a mutually beneficial trade agreement between the European Union and the United States can be found. It was the second time this week Mitsotakis reiterated the statement, following a Breitbart interview that prompted a positive reaction from Trump.
“We can find a ‘win-win’ solution when it comes to trade between Europe and the United States,” Mitsotakis said. “A solution that would be mutually beneficial – a zero-tariff agreement, for example, between the EU and the US.”
Moreover, he welcomed signs of openness from Washington, noting recent announcements of tariff suspension as a positive step.
“I was pleased to hear President Trump express agreement with the Greek proposal, and of course, we, as the EU, welcome his announcement of a three-month suspension of the tariff policy,” he added.
Mitsotakis further highlighted Greece’s stance in advocating for a coordinated European response, warning against measures that could lead to further tensions.
“Greece consistently insisted from the outset on a unified response from the EU – one that would assess the new circumstances with composure and moderation, avoiding knee-jerk reactions and needless escalation,” he noted.
The prime minister also reaffirmed Greece’s economic resilience and readiness to confront emerging global challenges.
“With stability and determination, we will overcome this difficult period and emerge even stronger,” he said.
