One of this year’s most critically acclaimed new shows, The Pitt, has confirmed new cast members for season 2.
The first season, which premiered in January, was a medical drama with a difference. Set over one long shift at an underfunded and understaffed hospital, each of the 15 episodes covered about an hour of the shift.
Following its success, a second season is on the way, and four new actors are joining the cast.
Deadline reports that Breaking Bad and The Blacklist‘s Charles Baker will play ED patient Troy, a homeless man who feels invisible.
Insatiable and Mozart in the Jungle’s Irene Choi has been cast as third-year medical student Joy, who has strong boundaries and a vast medical knowledge.
Trauma actor Laëtitia Hollard will play naive recent graduate Emma, while theatre actor Lucas Iverson has been cast as fellow medical student James.

Season 2 will feature a time jump, and plenty of cast members are set to return from season 1, with some characters teased to be getting promotions in between seasons.
The upcoming episodes will also take place on the 4 July weekend.
The first season was a huge hit with critics, standing at a 95% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and with fans.

On IMDb, fans loved it too, and it stands an 8.9 average rating
“Easily the best hospital series I’ve ever seen,” wrote one fan review, while another called it “one of the medical shows that gets it right”.
“Hits the feels” read another review, which was one of many that compared the show to classic medical drama ER (from the same creators).
“One of the things that stands out the most to me is the acting,” another review read. “The performances in this show are nothing short of phenomenal. Every character feels so real, so raw, that I often forget I’m watching a scripted show.”
The Pitt is available to stream on Max in the United States. It is not currently available to stream in the UK.
