Wrexham linked to ex-United star

Christian Eriksen has emerged as an unlikely transfer target for Wrexham this summer, following the Dragons’ promotion from League One.

There’s suggestions that Eriksen wants to play outside of England from now on. Whether that means a return to his native Denmark, a move to the MLS, or anywhere in Europe or even the Middle East maybe, remains to be seen.

Already this summer, it’s been confirmed that Wrexham want to sign experienced players, in a transfer policy that has so far served manager Phil Parkinson very well with promotions in each of the last three seasons.

Along with Eriksen, Wrexham have been linked with Jamie Vardy who is also becoming a free agent, whilst Jonny Evans and Tom Cairney have both been mentioned alongside potential moves to the Racecourse as well.

Liverpool agree Florian Wirtz deal

Liverpool have agreed a fee of €136.3million (£116m) to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, according to The Athletic.

The fee is comprised of a €117.5m (£100m) upfront fee with a further €18.8m (£16m) in add-ons, with Wirtz expected to sign a five-year deal at Anfield.

It represents a club record fee for Liverpool and a potential British record transfer, should the add-ons be activated.

Villa make progress over wonderkid

Aston Villa have opened talks with Real Betis over a deal for Jesús Rodriguez, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He is being eyed by several clubs but Villa have seized the initiative and could strike a deal soon.

Gyokeres speaks about future

Viktor Gyökeres has said he will talk about his future “when the time is right,” hitting out at reports over an ongoing rift between him and his club, Sporting.

Gyökeres, 27, wrote on Instagram: “There is a lot of talk at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right.”

Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas insisted this week his club had not received any offers for Gyökeres but that they would only consider bids of at least €80m ($92m)

He added: “We knew Viktor’s dream was to go to a club where he could fight for the Champions League, and we have common sense. We guaranteed that we would not demand the €100m.”

Gyökeres is reportedly upset with Sporting CP, believing they have gone back on an agreement to allow him to move for €60m plus €10m in add-ons — much less than his €100m release clause.
