CALICO BLUE showed definite signs of promise amidst obvious signs of inexperience when third in a Leicester maiden on debut 18 days ago and looking sure to improve for that initial effort, he looks to hold sound claims of making it second time lucky here. Chairmanfourtimes similarly made a good start when second at Nottingham and is next on the list. Perineighs and newcomer Ascending Star are a couple of others to note.

MOONSTONE BOY has returned better than ever, confirming his Musselburgh reappearance promise when running out a convincing winner at Carlisle 16 days ago. A 7 lb rise for that success looks fair and he rates a big player again from stall 2. Last year’s winner Copper Knight resumed winning ways at Pontefract on Monday and he’s a danger from a handy berth, while Rosenpur is another to consider.

Plenty are in with a shout but Tim Easterby’s BUBBLES WONKY still looks ahead of his mark despite taking a 4lb rise for his recent Hamilton. He confirmed the promise of his previous start, overcoming a wide draw and quickening around three lengths clear entering the final furlong, closed down only late on, so he looks the way to go in an open race.

Magico heads the list of dangers on the back of a good Windsor third with Grey Cuban, Castle Cove, Encourager and Debora’s Dream all well in the mix too.

The suggestion is MILFORD, who shaped as though in need of the run on his stable debut, but showed the benefit of that when a close third in a handicap at the York Dante meeting in a race which has thrown up winners, including second choice Frankie’s Dream who was behind the selection on that occasion but went in again back at York a fortnight ago. Hugo Palmer’s Triple Double A completes the shortlist.

Course winner BRAVE KNIGHT has developed into a fairly useful hurdler since joining Paul Nicholls and having gone well fresh in the past, he makes most appeal returning from a break following a breathing operation. He also returns to this sphere on his last winning mark of 80, so ought to give a good account. Lagoon Nebula is one of the least exposed runners and could go well again having finished runner-up over course and distance last month. Dual course winner Dreams Adonzen should give another good account, while last time out winner Molten Sea could yet have more to offer stepping back up in distance.

SOLAR ACLAIMattracted support returned to soft ground and shaped better than the bare result at Epsom last week, making rapid headway out wide around halfway but paying for that big move into contention in the closing stages. The forecast rain will be in his favour and, breaking from the plum draw in stall 1, he is worth another chance given it remains early days for these connections. Eye of Dubai is likely to pop up again soon, while the returning El Bodon is interesting having run well in the Greenham first time up last season.

AMANCIO has thrived since joining new connections, following a hurdle win with an impressive victory at Newbury, and can continue his upward trajectory with another success. Giselles Defence shaped well when doing good late work at Leicester on his most recent outing and remains well-handicapped. Jujubella was unlucky not to score at Ayr recently, with Oman also of interest back over a more suitable trip.
