A Brummie landlord has hit on the trick of getting youngsters out of his pub after final orders – and it’s all thanks to Ozzy Osbourne.
Heavy metal nut Tom Doggett, who runs the Red Lion in Evesham, says he hit upon the trick after getting tickets to the final Black Sabbath gig in Birmingham next month.
Tom said he had previously had trouble getting young people enjoying a drink to leave the pub – but he’s found talking about Sabbath does the trick.

When asked about the reaction to his Black Sabbath news: Tom added: “Some of the customers are a bit jealous, especially the younger ones.
“I use it as a way for them to go home. If they’re inside the pub after closing time, I’ll say: ‘If you don’t leave, I’m going to start talking about Black Sabbath’.”
With his wife being a fan of heavy metal, Tom managed to scoop Black Sabbath tickets in a moment of ‘complete luck’.
Speaking to BirminghamLive, he said: “The day before tickets went on sale, I found a link which ensured Black Sabbath tickets if you booked a hotel.
“It was complete luck that I stumbled across it, I was thinking of ways to get tickets.
“My wife had booked the day off work to book tickets so I surprised her when she came home.
“It’s a bit of trek from Villa Park but not the end of the world, it’s in the city centre.
“After I paid for the tickets, we’re not going on holiday this year.”
BirminghamLive visited the Red Lion after the market town was named the second-happiest place to live in the UK by The Guardian.
Having saved the pub from closure when previous owners retired in 2022, it’s been happy days so far for Tom.
In less than a year, he won a CAMRA Special Award for ‘New Landlord Achievements’, the first award of its kind.
