Organisers behind the Robbie Williams concerts at Bath’s Royal Crescent this weekend have addressed complaints after some fans said they were refused entry to the Golden Circle.
The ‘Angels’ singer took to the stage to play in front of some 15,000 people on the first of two nights at the open-air venue on Friday (June 13) with a second show scheduled for Saturday evening (June 14).
However, some gig goers who had forked out thousands of pounds for Golden Circle tickets, to be closer to the action, said they were refused entry by security who blocked the area off for health and safety reasons.
Organisers said there was a “very small issue with Golden Circle ticket holders” on Saturday and said the area was not oversold and that no-one was refused entry to the concert. You can read their full statement further down this article.
One gig goer told BristolLive: “We got some drinks and made our way over to the Golden Circle section, just to find it blocked by security not letting anyone else in.
“They said that the promoter had oversold the event and they couldn’t fit anyone else in the Golden Circle area for health and safety reasons (fears of crowd crushing).
“There was way over 100 people trying to get into this area. A lot of very angry people.
“Tensions rose and several small scuffles broke out and more security had to come to the entrance. Everyone was very upset that they had paid so much money and didn’t get what they paid for.
“I spoke to security who were very polite and they apologised but there was nothing they could do as it was a health and safety risk. They understood our annoyance and told us to contact the promoter and get a refund.”

Another gig goer took to Twitter to contact Ticketmaster who was the official seller for this event directly, and said: “Paid £1000 for Robbie tickets in Bath for Golden Circle and they won’t let us in. They say it’s full.”
Ticketmaster responded to say they would ‘look into the concern raised’.
Full statement from promoters
Senbla, the promoters for the event, issued a statement on Saturday afternoon to say: ‘Last night Robbie Williams wowed the audience with a spectacular show, the first night of two he is performing in Bath.
“To have an artist of his calibre perform to 15,000 people on the Royal Crescent, such a unique and incredible venue for a concert, is amazing – not least with this being by far the most intimate show of his tour which sees him performing to 60,000 people a night.
“We’ve had messages from so many audience members thanking us for bringing Robbie to the city of Bath, and we’d like to thank them in turn for allowing us to stage these wonderful shows that, as many of the messages have said, will live so long in the memory.
“There was a very small issue with Golden Circle ticket holders yesterday evening (Friday 13 June), where later into the concert there were pinch points causing delays to the entry of the Golden Circle section. This section was not oversold.
“We have ensured that this has been rectified for this evening’s concert by putting into place stronger communications lines between our security teams and event staff.
“We can’t wait for this evening’s show, and to share another moment of pop music history with the people of Bath tonight.”
