A man has been charged after six people were injured during an incident in Perry Barr.

Police and paramedics were sent to Aston Lane on Thursday after a man made his way on to the roof of a property.

The main route and surrounding roads, including Kenilworth Road and London Road, were sealed off and residents were evacuated from nearby homes.

West Midlands Police said Joshua Brivett, 24, has been charged with wounding, assault, aggravated burglary, criminal damage, and threats to kill.

He is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday (June 14).

Six people, including three police officers, were injured as a suspect barricaded themselves inside an address in a three-hour siege.

Negotiators and specialist officers” were brought in to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

The force said: “A man has been charged with a number of offences following an incident in Handsworth on Thursday (12 June).

“Joshua Brivett has been charged with multiple offences including wounding, assault, aggravated burglary, criminal damage, and threats to kill.

“The 24-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.”
