The store welcomes market traders, wholesalers and social media re-sellersInside Liverpool Wholesale Clearance Warehouse
If you’ve ever spent an idle weekend morning wandering the rows of a car boot sale then you’ll know the joy that can be found in browsing a random collection of items for bargain prices. And this week I discovered a clearance warehouse filled with end-of-line stock that recreates this experience pretty perfectly.
Liverpool Wholesale Clearance Warehouse is located on St John’s Road in Bootle – and its inconspicuous location on a sprawling industrial estate next to an underpass meant my sat nav had real trouble directing me to the store. Upon arrival, I was reassured to see a huge sign which read “OPEN TO THE PUBLIC”, without which I wouldn’t have been entirely sure.
Many of the businesses in the area operate for trade purposes and aren’t places you’d waltz into as a member of the general public. But when I arrived at the warehouse mid-morning, the shutters were up and a member of staff greeted me with a nod and an ‘alright?’ as I walked inside.
The store welcomes market traders, wholesalers and social media re-sellers, and I’d seen on my TikTok page that it recently had a selection of what looked like Charlotte Tilbury make-up in stock. I was excited to see what I could find.

I’ve been to a number of surplus stock and clearance warehouses in the hunt for a bargain, including an Amazon parcel hub and the ever-popular Barney’s Bargains, and this Bootle site was smaller than most.
You could clearly see everything that was on offer with a quick scan of the room from the entrance – or so I thought. The warehouse seemed to be loosely divided up into sections – clothing, DIY, garden and miscellaneous.
I immediately cast my eye over BHS bedding, knife sets and hot airbrush hair styling tools in abundance. Elsewhere I spotted scooters, speakers and spinny mop buckets.

To the right as you walked in was a random assortment of DIY items including cans of pain, toilets, showerheads and outdoor lights. There were also things like dehumidifiers, brooms and towel rails.
I have no intention of doing any DIY, now or ever, so I skipped past this section and walked through a makeshift corridor between the pallets of size three Pampers nappies and miniature drumkits.
This took me to the rear of the store where dozens of cardboard boxes of clothing were lined up with prices written on them in black marker pen. One stack of boxes was filled with children’s clothing sets, with a nearby rail also filled with children’s occasion wear.
Moving along the rows of boxes I started to notice some recognisable brand names, including Jack Wills, DKNY, Champion and Kirkland, which is usually stocked in Costco.

It was mainly leisurewear on offer when I visited, as well as pyjama sets, wearable blankets and slippers. Most of the items were grouped together in the cardboard boxes with brief details on the brand name, original price and discounted price tag – but there was one shelving unit where all sense of order had been abandoned. A high-vis work jacket lay next to a gold knee-high boot, with random items grouped together.
As I ventured further into the warehouse I realised my initial perception that I could see all the stock was incorrect. A giant cardboard box close to the rear of the space was piled high with electric goods, some boxed and some unboxed.

Hairdryers, travel appliances and electric shavers were all jumbled in together, meaning you could rummage around to try and find something you wanted.
This was also the case elsewhere in the store, where random products would be grouped together or tucked away behind larger items. If you had the time to really root through it all, I have no doubt you’d find some surprising deals that wouldn’t immediately jump out at you from the entrance.
Heading out of the warehouse I passed hoses, garden furniture, chests of drawers and, unexpectedly, a series of cut-outs of Liverpool FC stars.

I may have left the store empty handed, but I spent the entire shopping experience filled with a sense of hope that I might stumble upon an absolutely incredible deal somewhere among the piles of end-of-line stock.
It’s not store to visit if you’re on the hunt for a specific item, as it really is luck of the draw regarding what’s in stock on any given day. But if you love a rummage, have an eye for a bargain and a bit of luck on your side, it could be a winner.
