A ‘flying’ financial advice firm based in Hadleigh has unveiled its first office in London.

Matthew Douglas Ltd has embarked on a new era with its move to the capital in New Broad Street, by Liverpool Street Station.

The family-run business, which has been based in Hadleigh High Street since 2017, was voted 2024’s ‘best financial advice firm in East England’ by the global wealth management platform Citywire.

It has followed that up with the opening of its new office on June 1.

Matthew Frost, 56, who lives in Kersey, near Hadleigh, is the company director and founder.

He said: “We are delighted and very excited to be expanding into Europe’s largest financial centre and we are looking forward to broadening our reach both literally and metaphorically.

“We have many clients in London, so it makes sense to have a more permanent presence in the capital.

“Hadleigh is flying but London will give us an edge over our rivals as others shrink and consolidate. We want to send a different message that we are very much open for new business.”

Matthew Douglas, which employs 18 members of staff, provides support and guidance to more than 800 families across the East of England and further afield.

Mr Frost said the expansion to London was the start of a new era for the firm, which was established in 2003 and based in Nayland from 2004 to 2017.

“As a family-run business, our entire ethos centres around confidence and continuity,” he said.

“The finance industry is experiencing a massive, pronounced drive of private equity money flooding into the market and buying up businesses like ours.

“However, we will never let that happen to us or to our loyal clients – at least not on my watch.

He added: “We are very much here for the long term.

“The opening our new premises acts to underscore our drive and determination as we bring our family values and acute acumen to the big city.”
