Liam Gallagher has slammed Edinburgh City Council – after a leaked document showed them disparaging Oasis fans.

It’s now only weeks until the band’s reunion tour clicks into place, opening in Cardiff on July 4th. The long-since sold out dates will move around the country, with Oasis hitting Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh for three nights in August.

Leaked documents from Edinburgh City Council seemingly show local authorities planning for an influx of fans – but they don’t seem to be too happy about it.

The Scottish Sun has published the documents, which paint Oasis fans in a fairly disparaging light.

The planning briefings state: “Concerned about the safety of the Fringe and its performers. Many performers are considering not attending for that weekend. There is concern about crowds … as they are already rowdy … and the tone of the band.”

Another note adds: “Middle-aged men take up more room. Consider this when working out occupancy.” “Medium to high intoxication” and a “substantial amount of older fans” are being anticipated.

Never one to back out of a fight, Liam Gallagher hit back on Twitter / x, writing:

“To the Edinburgh council I’ve heard what you said about OASIS fans and quite frankly your attitude fucking stinks I’d leave town that day if I was any of you lot…”

He added:

“I’d love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council bet there’s some real STUNING individuals.”

Of course, Oasis and Scotland go back a long way. Creation Records boss Alan McGee famously discovered the band by chance playing a support slot in Glasgow, while their epochal Loch Lomond show in 1996 broke box office records. Oasis last played Murrayfield in 2009, and all seemed to go fine – perhaps the city fathers should relax a little.
