White’s Tavern’s roof fell through in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services attended the scene and one person was taken to hospital following the incident.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said the patient was taken the Royal Victoria hospital.

“(We) received a 999 call at 12.03am on Sunday following reports of a number of people having been injured, following a structural incident at a premises in Winecellar Entry.

“NIAS despatched five emergency crews, 1 HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) crew and a number of ambulance officers to the incident.

“After assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one person was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital and a number of others (were) discharged at the scene with minor injuries.”

The bar has confirmed it will reopen on Tuesday.

“The safety of our customers and staff at White’s Complex is our top priority,” it said.

“Following an incident in White’s Tavern, which saw plasterboard fall in the bar, we immediately sealed off the affected area and liaised with emergency services.

“There were no serious injuries, we apologise to customers and staff that were affected.

“We have conducted an investigation which has confirmed there are no structural defects and we are commencing remediation works.

“White’s Tavern will reopen on Tuesday 17th June.”

A spokesperson for the PSNI said, “Police attended a report of a collapsed roof at premises in the Winecellar Entry area of Belfast city centre shortly before 12.10am today, Sunday.

“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Services and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.”

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokesperson said that part of the roof “came off the ground floor ceiling”, however they did not need to take any action.

“Advice [was] given to whoever was at the incident, but we didn’t take any action at all,” they added.
