A nationwide search for unsung heroes has been launched by Pride of Britain Awards. The search will arrive in Liverpool tomorrow, and people will be able to nominate someone they think is worthy of recognition at an event in the city centre.

The pop-up event will take place in Liverpool ONE on June 16. In its landmark first year of partnership, P&O Cruises and the Pride of Britain Awards will be touring the nation with a unique nominations booth that allows people the chance to personally nominate their heroes.

In Liverpool, the booth will be in Paradise Place, outside John Lewis store in Liverpool ONE. After the people of Liverpool have nominated, the tour will continue to St David’s in Cardiff on June 18, before returning to West Quay, Southampton on June 20.

Members of the public are encouraged to step inside the booth and share the inspiring stories of those who make a real difference in their communities. From acts of bravery to everyday kindness, the booth offers a personal and heartfelt way for people to recognise unsung heroes.

To celebrate the launch of the event, Pride of Britain hosts Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo boarded P&O Cruises flagship Britannia, along with previous Pride of Britain Award winners, for a celebratory event in Southampton.

They were joined by P&O Cruises red carpet host Jeff Brazier to officially open the nominations and kick off the booth tour. The interactive booth tour is touring the UK, coinciding with Britannia’s 10th anniversary sailing around the British Isles, including an overnight stay in Liverpool.

P&O Britannia is in Liverpool today and will be staying overnight. The huge cruise ship can carry up to 3,647 guests and 1,350 crew. On-board passengers can enjoy four different swimming pools and four different whirlpool spas, a theatre, library, and art gallery. There is also a steam room, sports court, cookery club and fully equipped gym.

She was once the P&O fleet’s largest cruise ship until 2021, when the Iona was built. The Britannia was built in Italy and made her Mersey debut in 2015 during a special cruise around Britain.

For those who nominate in person at the booth locations, they will be in with the chance to win a 14-night Caribbean cruise for two people. People unable to visit the touring booth will still be able to nominate as nominations remain open online via the official Pride of Britain Awards website.

Guests aboard the celebratory sailing can look forward to exclusive culinary experiences with Food Heroes Marco Pierre White and Olly Smith, along with special guest Tom Parker Bowles, Marabelle Gin and Tidal Rum masterclasses, plus additional anniversary-themed dining and special entertainment.

Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “We are honoured to partner with Pride of Britain in this meaningful way. As Britannia celebrates her 10th anniversary sailing around the UK, it feels fitting to take this moment to seek out and celebrate the incredible people who make Britain so special. This is the first year of our dedicated Inspiration Award so we can’t wait to hear the incredible stories.”

Jeff Brazier added: “Celebrating everyday heroes is something that truly aligns with my values, so I am so excited to be a part of this incredible partnership with P&O Cruises. I’ll be travelling to Belfast and Liverpool to meet the public and seek out nominations, so I encourage locals to come along and be a part of the worthy cause.”
