A big Manchester-based artist has thanked the huge crowds at Parklife for ‘sharing a moment with me and my family’ as he brought out his grandma on stage during his performance.

Morgan Seatree, from Atherton, was one of the big names to perform on the first day of the music festival on Saturday (June 14). The producer’s set, on the Magic Sky stage, saw big crowds turn up for his mix of house anthems.

Wearing a custom Manchester United shirt, hand-painted by Manchester artist Jetch featuring the words ‘Seatree’ and ‘Parklife’ on the back, the producer brought out his grandma during his energetic performance at the festival.

In a video shared by the Heaton Park festival, Morgan brings his grandma out on stage to hug her in front of the huge crowd whilst his song Say My Name, a remix of Florence & The Machine’s Spectrum, played in the background. He later commented: “Dreams have come true.”

UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall also shared the joy, commenting on the video: “What it’s all about.” Another fan said: “Gave me goosebumps that, no words.” One other added: “Ah man well done Morgan. It’s great to see such pure emotion and love for it.” Another said: “Am sobbing x”

Morgan later took to Instagram to share how significant the homecoming set had meant for him. He posted: “Nothing’s topping that ever, I love you all so much. I’m so glad you shared that moment with me and my family.

“Wow, no words, the full city pulled up. Parklife festival, you made my dreams come true.”

The musician later shared that he was heading off to Tenerife right after his Parklife performance as he made his way to perform at NRG Raves. Having got off his flight in the Canary Islands, Morgan said he had been inundated with positive messages about his performance featuring his grandma.

He said in a video: “I’ve got like thousands of DMs to navigate through but yeah, everyone who’s sending these nice messages, thank you so much.

“I’m just trying to get my head round them all, and i’ll reply to them all when I can. but yeah, thank you guys.”

Day one of Parklife featured big performances from Jorja Smith, Rudimental, and Skream & Benga whilst festival-goers battled with strong winds and heavy rain. But by the mid-afternoon, the rain had dampered for sunny spells leading into 50 Cent’s big headline set to end the evening.

Parklife continues at Heaton Park today with another round of big performances, with the likes of Confidence Man, Armand Van Helden, Paul Woodford, Sam Divine, Peggy Gou and, of course, headliner Charli XCX set to take to the stage later on.
