Parklife bosses have been forced to pause one of the festival’s main stages this evening following ‘safety’ advice.

It was reported this evening that Matinee, which is one of the new stages to this year’s festival, had been completely shut down and emptied of crowds – meaning people were forced to wait outside the barriers for more information.

The dance stage, which has hosted the likes of Malugi, Interplanetary Criminal, Alex Farrell, Mella Dee and Prospa over the weekend, had been due to host Josh Baker from 6.30pm until 8pm – although it is understood that he has not yet taken to the stage at all due to the situation.

Dutch DJ Chris Stussy is currently still down to end the festivities at the Heaton Park stage, but his set is scheduled for 8pm to 11pm and has already been delayed as a result.

In a pop-up message issued via the official Parklife app told festival-goers the stage had been ‘paused’ due to ‘safety advice’.

The full message said: “Upon advice of the PL safety team, the show on the Matinee stage has been paused. We will update asap.”

Photos taken at the festival show crowds gathered outside the stage area, with the stage itself empty bar security staff. No further details have yet been shared.
