Major road locked down by police amid ongoing incident

Edinburgh police have closed a major street in both directions amid an ongoing incident.

A large police presence is currently in attendance on Cowgate due to a report of a concern for a person around 6pm on June 15.

Emergency services have swarmed the area and drivers and pedestrians have been urged to avoid the area.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “Cowgate in Edinburgh is closed in both directions due to a report of concern for a person reported to police around 6pm on Sunday, June 15.
