The beach is back at New Square Shopping CentreFun at the beach at New Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich
When the sun is shining, there’s something special about taking the kids to the beach.
They can’t wait to dig the sand, build sandcastles and have fun with friends, new and old.
But, being in landlocked Birmingham, our nearest beach is probably Weston-Super-Mare, which is 100 miles away and a good two-hour journey, traffic permitting.

So, we love it when we hear that manmade beaches are opening around the city for families to enjoy over the school holidays.
New Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich has hosted a beach for many years and keeps it free for kids to play.
There are buckets and spades on the golden sands and deckchairs for parents and grandparents to relax whilst the little ones have fun.

When is the manmade beach opening in West Bromwich?
New Square Beach is opening in time for the summer holidays.
It will launch on July 21 and run right through to August 30 at the shopping centre.
Every day throughout the school holidays, visitors can head over there for free to enjoy a sandy beach and, hopefully, a bit of sunshine.
And, there will be free extra activities throughout the holidays for families. We’ll share more details on the activities as they are announced.
New Square is on Cronehills Linkway, West Bromwich B70 7PP.
It has more than 1,900 parking spaces and 30 ‘big name stores’ plus cafés and restaurants and a cinema so there’s plenty to keep all ages busy.
