The players on the WTA Tour are now gearing up for Wimbledon, with the Nottingham Open providing a final warm-up chance for some players.
It’s been a frantic period for the players, with the French Open being won by Coco Gauff, who defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final at Roland Garros.
This morning, players are receiving news of the latest update on the world rankings, with the top four positions the ones to be had ahead of Wimbledon.
Players will want to avoid other members of the top four before the semi-final stage and with that in mind, there is positive news for Qinwen Zheng.
However, Iga Swiatek won’t like what she’s seeing this morning…

Zheng reached the semi-final at Queen’s last week, defeating Emma Raducanu along the way, before losing to Amanda Anisimova.
The 22-year-old managed to reach the last eight at the French Open before losing to Sabalenka and it does feel as though she’s close to a maiden Grand Slam.
Zheng’s form of late appears to have handed her a huge boost ahead of Wimbledon, with the player now edging into the top four.
The talented player reached the final of the Australian Open and the WTA Tour Finals last year but has never gone to the second week at Wimbledon.
Iga Swiatek discovers new WTA world ranking
Swiatek is striving for a bit of consistency and her semi-final defeat to Sabalenka at the French Open ended her dominant streak of titles at that event.
Now, she will go into Wimbledon clinging on to her place in the world’s top 10, with her form in 2025 doing little to help her ranking.
As the saying goes, however, form is temporary and class is permanent, with Swiatek more than capable of going all the way at Wimbledon.
The new ranking won’t help her cause, but perhaps there is a chance now for her to slip under the radar and catch some of the top players cold at Wimbledon.
