Eddie Howe has made history at Newcastle United after ending a 70-year wait for silverware.
The Carabao Cup celebrations will remain a lifetime memory for every Newcastle United fan involved, and Eddie Howe is the man responsible for bringing that joy to Tyneside.
Typical of Howe’s nature, he quickly put the cup celebrations to the back of his mind to refocus his Newcastle squad on the Premier League with Champions League qualification still up for grabs.
With games in hand on those around them, Newcastle can put themselves in pole position for a top-five finish if they complete a Premier League double over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately, Howe won’t be at the Manchester United clash after he was admitted to hospital with an illness. However, there is no doubt he will be watching from afar as his Newcastle side chase an incredible finish to the 2024/25 campaign.

Howe wants to stay at Newcastle as long as he can, he said so himself in 2023 – before the Carabao Cup success.
With a trophy now under his belt and legendary status achieved, any noise around his future has been silenced, so Howe can focus on his long-term project under the new ownership.
It has been suggested that Howe could manage Man City one day once Pep Guardiola retires, but with Newcastle’s current trajectory there should be no reason to jump ship.
According to Harry Redknapp via The Sun, the only job that would tempt Howe to leave St James’ Park is the England job.
But with Thomas Tuchel recently hired by England, Howe’s full focus will be on taking Newcastle to the very top of English football.
Eddie Howe was overlooked for England job
Towards the end of the summer, there was a lot of noise around Howe’s future, especially amid reports of a frosty relationship with Paul Mitchell.
The FA were on the lookout for the next Three Lions boss but Howe was overlooked for the England job with Tuchel handed the reins instead.
Reports suggested that Howe wanted to stay at Newcastle as he wasn’t interested in replacing Gareth Southgate.

Gary Neville pushed Howe for the England job, but he had unfinished business at Newcastle and still does.
Howe is the best English manager in football currently and he is treasured at St James’ Park. The Carabao Cup is not the last trophy he’ll lift in charge of the Magpies.
