Princess Beatrice discussed the importance of “coming together” and “building trust” online in an appearance at London’s Tech Week.

The 36-year-old royal sat down for a fireside chat with Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales during the event held at Olympia in the capital.

“Really what we need is more community online,” Beatrice began in the discussion, the Wikimedia Foundation recorded.

She also advocated creating more: “Spaces for people to come together and discuss and arrive at content decisions and platform rules that feel right to them.”

“That’s also how you build trust among people,” Beatrice added.

The royal’s chat Wales concerned how AI can be used as a supportive tool, rather than a replacement, for humans.

They also discussed how an improved web could: “Fight disinformation, improve knowledge equity, and expand digital inclusion across 300+ languages.”

Beatrice and Wales also explored how: “Sustainable reuse of content through technical partnerships and datasets has never been more important in the age of AI.”

The Princess of York’s tech credentials originate from her founding of consultancy firm By Eq in 2022.

The company, which provides IT and software solutions, strives to achieve “exceptional emotional intelligence in an age of artificial intelligence.”

Beatrice also serves in an advisory role at Scale AI, Healwell AI and Liontree Asset Management.

While attending Tech Week, the royal wore a smart dark blue dress under a business-like navy blazer.

The news came as both Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie were absent from Trooping the Colour celebrations.

In previous years during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, Prince Andrew’s two daughters would ride in a carriage down the Mall before appearing on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony with their family.

However, since 2022, the rules have been tightened so that only working royals and their young children are permitted to attend Trooping the Colour.
