Prince Harry has always remained adamant that his wife Meghan Markle has striking similarities to his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, however it seems that not everyone would agree. After introducing Meghan to his family a few months into their relationship, which started in 2016, the Duke of Sussex, 40, was reportedly “disappointed” that his family did not see how similar Meghan and Diana really were, according to a royal author.

Writing in his book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, Tom Bower said that Harry introduced his then-girlfriend to Diana’s sisters, however no one agreed with him that the Suits actress was similar to the late princess.

He wrote: “Harry assumed that Diana’s family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and his fiancee. Both, he said, shared the same problems.”

The author continued: “He was disappointed. No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend.

“More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family.”

While his family may not have agreed with him, the duke has always continued to push the idea that Meghan is more like Diana than many may think.

In the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, released in 2022, the duke said so much of Meghan is similar to his mother, including some of his key traits.

The dad-of-two said: “So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.”

Harry also said after getting engaged to Meghan Markle in 2017 that he believes Princess Diana would have been “best friends” with Meghan.

He told the BBC in the couple’s engagement interview: “I think she (Diana) would be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me, but then, as I said, she would have probably been best friends – best friends with Meghan.”
