A stunning waterside pub has been praised for its great atmosphere near a popular walking spot in Greater Manchester.

The King’s Ransom is situated right on the cusp of Bridgewater Canal in Sale, which is popular with canoeists and dog-walkers throughout the year. Located on Britannia Road, the pub has been a mainstay for many over the years and hailed as a ‘right royal treat’.

Located on Britannia Road, the expansive pub boasts a comforting and homely feel thanks to its exposed brickwork, high beams and separate sitting areas. It is also perhaps best known for its floating barge-style beer garden that is popular during any signs of sunshine.

The beer garden boasts unparalleled views of the waterways with a number of opportunities to catch many of the narrowboats on the Bridgewater Canal – which passes through Salford, Manchester and Trafford as it continues its journey onto Cheshire.

The towpath besides it forms the 39-mile Bridgewater Way, a walking and cycling route which offers a very unique mix of scenery ranging from office buildings to lush countryside.

Led by Greene King, The King’s Ransom is located within the Bridgewater Way pathway – offering a perfect spot to stop and relax – and is also just moments away from Sale Metrolink station.

On the menu, the pub offers a varied selection of food and drink, featuring sharing plates, curries, flatbreads, pasta, pies, burgers and grills. Some highlights include a hot honey halloumi flatbread, a slow-cooked chicken and ham pie, and a pulled mushroom chilli.

Throughout the year, the pub hosts live music as well quiz nights and bingo. It is also popular with sports fans for its regular screening of live matches and games.

Last year, the pub received a six-figure revamp which saw it fitted with new contemporary décor including a brighter colour scheme, updated restrooms and plush new furniture.

The popular outside space was also part of the makeover and was extended and upgraded to include new decking, comfortable seating and ‘mood’ lighting for evenings.

A 75” TV screen and upgraded heating were also included in the revamped beer garden as well as a new outdoor bar and pizza oven which will be fully utilised during the busiest times of the year.
