It’s a case of rinse and repeat for Celtic.

Go back to Brendan Rodgers’ first spell, the vibrant football under Ange Postecoglou, when Ronny Deila was lifting the Premiership title, or just the present.

It has been the same old story, and that’s Celtic dominating Scottish football, as Rangers look on, changing everything they can, but to no avail.

Last Sunday, Celtic slipped up and were beaten at St Johnstone; nobody in green and white colours had any complaints, other than the pure anger and frustration from Rodgers.

It meant that Celtic couldn’t win the Premiership title at home to Kilmarnock at Saturday lunchtime, but they could do it indirectly, and with a little push from Aberdeen.

So, after Celtic thrashed Kilmarnock by putting five goals past them, including a stunning long-range effort from Cameron Carter-Vickers, the scene is now set at Pittodrie.

It’s pretty simple: if Aberdeen beats Rangers, then it’s title number 55 for Scotland’s most successful club.

Kris Boyd was asked about that scenario, and whether or not it will play on the minds of Barry Ferguson’s side, but he stated that ‘they will focus on themselves’ against Aberdeen, as he told Sky Sports News (13/04/25 at 9:45 am).

Reporter Luke Shanley asked: ‘Just on the title, how much of that is on the Rangers players’ minds to try and prevent Celtic from winning this weekend or today (on Sunday)?’

Boyd responded: “It’s going to happen, isn’t it?! Celtic are obviously going to be crowned champions. I think, for Rangers, they will focus on themselves.

“I know people will say, ‘Thursday is a huge game’, but so is today. There is going to be a huge travelling support that is going to pay a lot of money to watch their team perform. They want to see a performance to represent that badge. They aren’t just going to roll over and let Aberdeen win the game of football.

“I know Rangers’ main aim and main focus is to try and progress in Europe on Thursday night. But there is a huge 90 minutes at Pittodrie.”

Brendan Rodgers’ trophy haul as Celtic manager when title number 55 is won

Of course, it would be better if Celtic won the title in front of their own fans, but whichever way it happens, it’s another trophy in the cabinet.

Rodgers has played a huge part in this dominance over the last decade, and he isn’t stopping anytime soon.

Even though Celtic weren’t at their best last season, he still secured the double, and now with iffy performances post-2025, the Treble is well and truly on.
