The identity of a man who died after being found in Liverpool city centre remains unknown one month on. North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were called at around 4.35am on Saturday, May 10 to reports a man had been found on Old Hall Street after suffering a medical episode.

He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later. The man’s identity was unknown and police previously released details about him in a bid to find out he was. Merseyside Police described him as white, 6ft tall, of large build, aged around late 20s to early 30s, with brown hair and a brown beard.

The man was wearing a dark North Face T-shirt with diamond patterns, grey jogging pants, black jacket and dark Nike trainers at the time he was found. In an update today, Wednesday, June 18, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed there were no further updates and enquiries remain ongoing.

Detective inspector Mike Fletcher previously said: “Sadly the man died following a medical episode and his death is being treated as not suspicious. However, we are continuing with our enquiries to identify him so we can inform his next-of-kin of his death.

“If anyone thinks they know a man matching his description please contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Police had previously appealed for a man to come forward who was believed to have been with the deceased man before his death, but the force told the ECHO he was unable to further assist with their enquiries. A police cordon was put in place near to the entrance of the passport office following the incident.
