Trains were impacted after emergency services were called to a fire at a major station in Manchester city centre on Wednesday (June 18).

A number of services at Oxford Road station were facing delays during the afternoon after a fire broke out next to the tracks.

Its cause has not been confirmed but a passenger on the platform claimed the small blaze was started by a discarded cigarette that was thrown onto the tracks.
