You know how people say to look good, you have to feel good? Well, Catherine, Princess of Wales, better known as Kate Middleton, reportedly takes that seriously. In fact, we may know the secret to her headline-making glow; and it’s all thanks to a smoothie you can easily make at home.
According to the MailOnline via Hello, Kate starts her morning with a super-healthy drink: a nutrient-rich smoothie comprised of kale, spirulina, matcha, spinach, romaine, cilantro, and blueberries.
In a previous chat with Hello, former royal nutritionist Jennifer Hanway, who worked with Kate at one point, basically confirmed this, saying, “Kate has a ton of antioxidants in there, a ton of vitamins and minerals, and a ton of fiber – which make for a powerhouse of overall health. Everything from the kale to the leafy greens is a really great source of nutrients.”

So, each ingredient serves a purpose. Hanway told NewBeauty that kale is high in vitamins A, B, C, K and E, making it a must for “prevent[ing] signs of skin degradation and premature aging such as loss of elasticity and fine lines and wrinkles.”
Along with that, it “can help with skin brightness, tone and glow, and even help to lower stress-related inflammation in the skin.”
Now, spirulina also helps with anti-inflammation and collagen production, per Healthline, matcha removes skin imperfections and helps decrease signs of aging, per Matcha, the spinach helps with making that inner glow thanks to the vitamin C, according to Natural Living Insider, and romaine gives a whole lot of vitamin A, per Eating Well.
While we already know that the greens are full of benefits, what about the other two: cilantro and blueberries? Yes, we know cilantro is green, but it’s typically a garnish. So, can cilantro help? Yes! It’s anti-inflammatory and soothes sensitive skin, according to Shuncy.
Now, we love blueberries. It’s delicious, a true superfood, and makes any juice or drink taste amazing. But while it can do all of that, can it help our skin? According to Healthline, it can help with so much, like fighting premature aging, boosting collagen, reducing acne-related issues, and even helping with psoriasis and eczema.
