Leeds United have reportedly advanced their interest in Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic.

The 25-year-old is on the back of an 11-goal campaign in the Serie A and he also provided an assist.

Leeds have already signed Lukas Nmecha, are closing in on Udinese defender Jaka Bijol and are now eyeing their third major signing of the window.

Leeds United have made their intentions clear to Lecce as they’re hot on the heels of the Montenegro international.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (18 June), the Whites have tabled a “significant” offer for the forward.

They have shown an advanced interest and their bid is understood to be close to what the Serie A side are demanding for Krstovic.

It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old fancies a move to Elland Road or will wait for top Italian clubs to make their intentions clear.

Thus far, Leeds United are the only club to have come close to meeting Lecce’s demands for the forward.

It is evident that Daniel Farke wants a game changer in the final third ahead of the new season.

Clubs often get relegated due to the lack of a clinical striker and it’s good to see Leeds prioritising that.

At 25, Krstovic is at the right age to make the move to the next level and joining a historically big club like the Whites would be ideal for him.

He’s proven he can get double digits in the Serie A despite not playing for one of the top sides so there’s every reason to believe he’d be a good fit in the Premier League.

It’s important that the 49ers back Farke this summer, as they cannot blame him for a relegation battle if they don’t give him the signings he wants.
