Kate Middleton and Prince William have a lot going on in their lives. Middleton’s cancer battle took a major toll on the family. There have been rumors about the couple’s fourth child, but it appears that the couple might not be considered a fourth child after her health crisis. Even before her health issues, Middleton subtly hinted that they were happy with their three children.
In 2023, Middleton and Baby Bank CEO Rebecca Mistry had an exchange, where the Princess of Wales revealed her thoughts on a fourth child. According to The Express, Mistry shared that some people get the baby fever when looking at baby clothes, but she “looks at them and thinks I don’t want to go through that again.”
Middleton seemed to agree with Mistry as she laughed and shared, “I’ve been there and done that.” However, she earlier expressed her interest in baby number four. During her visit to Northern Ireland in 2019, she shared that she felt “broody” when she met a baby (via PEOPLE). In January 2020, she made William’s stance clear to a fan, “I don’t think William wants any more [babies].”
During their visit to Lancashire in 2022, when Middleton held a baby girl, William joked, “Don’t give my wife any more ideas!” (via PEOPLE). He also jokingly shared with Middleton, “Don’t take her with you.” Interestingly, Middleton’s earlier work has focused on early childhood education. She told Vanity Fair that her passion is “learning about how babies’ brains develop and how our early childhood influences the adult brain.”
According to a source to Us Weekly in 2022, Middleton allegedly tried to convince Prince William to expand their family. The source shared, “Kate has been talking about wanting another baby for a while now.” The source also added that William was happy with the three children.

While they haven’t considered a fourth child yet, Prince William and Kate Middleton recently welcomed new additions to their family. According to The Sun, their black cocker spaniel Orla has given birth to several healthy puppies. A source told the outlet that all the puppies are “doing well” and that George, Charlotte, and Louis hope to keep them.
The source added, “Everyone loves a new royal baby news and so new royal puppies run very close.” Orla has made appearances with the family on several social media posts, including the video where Middleton announced the completion of her chemotherapy. She was a gift from Middleton’s brother, James, in 2020.
So, it appears that the family is currently happy with the new members. A fourth child is currently out of the question.
